Eve Ensler and American V-Day organizers launched this year's international V-Day Movement at the 100,000 strong anti-war march on January 27, announcing this year's theme: "Reclaiming Peace," in Washington DC. Their website explains:

"For V-Day, the protest resonated with the V-Day 2007 theme “Reclaiming Peace” which makes the connection between the worldwide anti-violence work of V-Day activists and our collective desire for peace and an end to armed conflicts:

“'We are saying that if a government supports the use of force, weapons, violence as a method of control and dominance, this models and gives license to the same kind of behavior at home,' stated V-Day Founder/Artistic Director Eve Ensler...

"V-Day is a global movement to stop violence against women and girls. V-Day is a catalyst that promotes creative events to increase awareness, raise money and revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations. V-Day generates broader attention for the fight to stop violence against women and girls, including rape, battery, incest, female genital mutilation (FGM) and sexual slavery."
