    According to its founders, Vientianepost.com receives its reports from the ordinary people of Laos. Launched November, 2000, features stories in brief about fighting between the government forces and the "Freedom Fighters" - mainly racially Hmong, "CIA trained individuals who were left behind after the Vietnam War, who, because of their loyalty and services to the United States during the war, are to be exterminated by the communists." Graphic pictures of villages on fire, and "proof of the use of chemical weapons." A story largely ignored by Western media:
  • On November 13, 2000 at 8:00 a.m. (Laos time), Lao red army's 404th Battalion and Vietnamese soldiers, about 3 battalions, were deployed into Vang Vieng city and Ban Chiang areas, where they launched an attack against the villagers at Ban Phou Kong Khao, Vientiane province. Forty (40)Villagers at Ban Phou Kong Khao were killed, and 6 were missing. Twenty (20) of the Lao red army and Vietnamese soldiers were killed, wounded is unknown, the Lao red army had reinforced by air power with the usage of the B6 and B8 aircraft which fired machine guns and dropped bombs, destroyed whole villages.
